Enemy of the ________![UPDATED]

The “enemy of the ______” figure of speech rhetoric is thick as pea soup these days and it’s socially divisive by pitting the core foundations of opposing sides against each other, but is the rhetoric truthful and accurate?

Truthful: (of a person or statement) telling or expressing the truth; honest.

Accurate: (of information, measurements, statistics, etc.) correct in all details; exact.

There are differences between the phrases “enemy of the state” and “enemy of the people” and there are differences between why those phrases are being used. From the point of view of the person presenting the phrases, they are truthful and reasonably accurate statements.

Enemy of the State

Enemy: a person who is actively opposed or hostile to someone or something.

State: a nation or territory considered as an organized political community under one government.

The reason the phrase “enemy of the state” is being used to describe 21st century Republicans and Conservatives, especially since President Biden has taken office, is because Republicans and Conservatives are doing everything they can to try to stop the massive ideological push towards the progressives “social justice” totalitarianism in the United States. It’s really clear that progressives consider their “social justice” ideology as being the only acceptable and valid ideology and by default their ideology should be the only acceptable and valid ideology of “the state”. It seems that to progressives, their “social justice” ideology and the states ideology are inseparable as in one in the same; therefore their “social justice” ideology and the state are equivalent. Anyone that opposes the progressive “social justice” ideology is an enemy to that ideology and therefore and enemy to their perceived only acceptable “state”. To “social justice” progressives, it’s not acceptable under any circumstances to oppose their ideology. “Social justice” progressives are so bigoted against Republicans, aka Conservatives, that they are irretrievably broken with the Constitution and they consider all conservatives to be wrong by default and the opinions of conservatives should not be heard in public, period, end of story – enter totalitarian censorship along with direct and indirect persecution.

Bigoted: obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, opinion, or faction, in particular prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.

To “social justice” progressives stating that Republicans/Conservatives are an “enemy of the state” is a completely truthful and accurate statement, from their bigoted point of view. Yes I am publicly stating that “social justice” progressives are bigots, their words and actions have earned them that labeling.

Enemy of the People

It’s been said that “A Free Press Is Essential To Democracy”, let’s take a moment to examine that briefly.

Thomas Jefferson told us that…

“The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.”

Why is a free press essential to Democracy, because an ethical free press helps maintain a balance in power by fighting for the truth no matter where the truth leads, holds all those in power regardless of their political leanings accountable, informs the people of all the facts without bias so we the people can make informed decisions about those in power and our government in general; therefore, a free press strengthens the power of the opinion of we the people. The press is the unbiased investigative arm of we the people and without that unbiased investigative arm we the people are blinded to what those in power and our government are actually doing.

The reason the phrase “enemy of the people” is being used to describe the modern media is the media has set aside being an unbiased investigative arm that’s fighting for we the people and now it’s intentionally distributing pure partisan advocacy based propaganda. This unethical shift puts the press in direct conflict with the truth and makes them a literal “enemy of the people” because they are lying, lying by omission, or actively twisting the facts that they deliver to we the people to push a partisan agenda. Their advocacy propaganda is an intentional attempt to psychologically manipulate the population and any such attempt my the media, aka press, violates the purpose of their constitutional protection which was specifically enumerated so the press could fight for the unbiased truth for we the people. The press ignoring their core obligation to fight for the unbiased truth and shifting to partisan advocacy propaganda violates the core reasons they have constitutional protections in the first place and makes them literally an enemy to we the people.

There has been lots of coverage regarding the epic downfall of the media in recent years, both Ethics Alarms and Jonathan Turley have covered it extensively and both of their perspectives are worth reading. There is plenty of coverage about the breakdown of journalistic ethics out there, one only has to look.

The press is supposed to be fighting for the actual truth for all of the people to maintain our Democracy not setting fire to the core foundations that built the fourth estate.

The General Focus Behind The Phrases

Thinking about the fundamental differences between the overall focus of the people that use these phrases and the ideology that supports their rhetoric, these things rings true; on one hand we have progressives that are primarily focused on what they consider to be the the state and they do the things they can to promote the state and on the other hand we have Conservatives that are primarily focused on what they consider to be the individual rights of the people and they do the things they can to promote and support those individual rights.

The political left, which has pushed classic Liberal ideals aside and is now dominated by “social justice” progressives, is focused on pushing their ideological idea of the state and that push leans heavily towards infringing on individual rights in favor of the power of the state to impose its will upon we the people, so for progressives the state knows best as long as the state is controlled by their progressive ideological leaders. Candidate Barak Obama stated on the campaign trail in 2008, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.“, well we are reaping the effects of that progressive call to action and we have progressive social justice warriors doing everything they can to fundamentally change the USA and implement their irrational social changes.

The political right, which is dominated by Conservatives, has stuck with the core principles of the founding fathers and lean heavily towards maintaining the individual rights of we the people and giving them the tools they need to keep the state in check. These are the building blocks of our society and the solid foundation for maintaining and promoting freedom and liberty across the globe. These core foundations, the building blocks of our society, are what made the USA the world power and beacon of freedom that it is today.

In Conclusion

What have we become? The political left and the political right couldn’t be further apart in their ideological leanings in the 21st century, especially right now in 2021. The political right wants to stick with what’s worked well for the United States of America since it’s inception nearly 250 years ago and that’s to keep the power of the government in the hands of we the people and the political left wants to transform our society and culture into some kind of totalitarian society where the state controls the people. Keep this in mind when listening to the rhetoric and observing the actions of the progressives that have consumed the political left, they will choose “the state” over “we the people” and our individual rights to control our own lives every time and they will say and do anything and promote any narrative to promote their version of the state and demonize those that oppose their ideology.

[UPDATE: Added This Paragraph 8/26/2021] We even have officials in the United States government openly stating things like Dr. Anthony Fauci’s recent words, “I know I respect people’s freedom, but…”, whenever you hear the “but” used in this context it’s signature significant of a totalitarian minded government official choosing the power of the state over the power of “We the People” and our Constitutional & human rights. On top of that we have the United States government, including our President of the United States, sidestepping, and therefore undermining, the very United States Constitution they swore to uphold and protect and putting pressure on employers to do the bidding of the government to squash individual and human rights. What the hive minded political left and their army of social justice warriors are doing is Orwellian.

Orwellian: is an adjective describing a situation, idea, or societal condition that George Orwell identified as being destructive to the welfare of a free and open society. It denotes an attitude and a brutal policy of draconian control by propaganda, surveillance, disinformation, denial of truth (doublethink), and manipulation of the past, including the “unperson”—a person whose past existence is expunged from the public record and memory, practiced by modern repressive governments. Often, this includes the circumstances depicted in his novels, particularly Nineteen Eighty-Four but political doublespeak is criticized throughout his work, such as in Politics and the English Language.

What will you do when the progressive left’s 21st century foot soldiers, i.e. the social scourge of hive minded social justice warriors, come knocking on your door to metaphorically plug you into their indoctrination chambers?

Will you resist assimilation into their hive mind or will you apathetically go along with it and allow the hoard of stupid people to intimidate you into swallowing their ideology and allow them to control your life with their brainwashing propaganda? Your choice could be that proverbial pebble in the pond.
