Hypocrisy Destroys Genuine Integrity

Hypocrisy Defined

  • Merriam Webster:  a feigning to be what one is not or to believe what one does not behavior that contradicts what one claims to believe or feel
  • Wikipedia: is the practice of feigning to be what one is not or to believe what one does not.
  • Google Dictionary/Oxford Languages: the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one’s own behavior does not conform; pretense.
  • Cambridge: a situation in which someone pretends to believe something that they do not really believe, or that is the opposite of what they do or say at another time.
  • Vocabulary: behavior that is different from what they say they believe.
  • Britannica Dictionary: behavior that does not agree with what someone claims to believe or feel.
  • Collins: you mean that they pretend to have qualities, beliefs, or feelings that they do not really have.
  • Oxford Learners: behaviour that does not meet the moral standards or match the opinions that somebody claims to have.
  • Oxford English Dictionary: the assuming of a false appearance of virtue or goodness, with dissimulation of real character or inclinations

Virtue Defined

Behavior showing high moral standards.

Integrity Defined

The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.

I Abhor Hypocrisy

The trend I notice in those definitions is that it defines when a person publicly portrays themself to others as having a particular virtue but their behavior shows others that they don’t seem to be able to put that virtue into practice in real world applications.

Genuine integrity simply cannot exist when hypocrisy is present. Hypocrisy is a cancer that silently eats away at ethics and morals. Hypocrisy is one of the root evils that causes unwelcome, unethical and immoral changes in our society and culture and it needs to be confronted head on and stamped out when we see it.

Such is the behavior of a fellow Madison, WI area blogger at Yellow Stripes & Dead Armadillos when it comes to who he allows to post comments. In general, I think Dave Cieslewicz of Yellow Stripes & Dead Armadillos is a reasonably honest guy, relatively moderate in some of his political views, and a good person, in fact he and I have many similar views about personal behavior and politics. However, when it comes to commenters on his blog the black clouds of hypocrisy roll in as the behavior of Cieslewicz appears to be to block comments from outspoken commenters that have stringent opposing opinions on certain topics that he doesn’t like and might not be able to effectively counter.

As evidence to support my opinion are the selective censoring efforts of Cieslewicz showing that he specifically targets some contradictory comments from people while allowing non-contradictory comments from the same people. I’ve talk about it three of my previous blog posts, “Where Did All The Classic Liberals* Go?“, “What Would You Call It?” and “Like Clockwork…“. Well I’m sorry to have to say this that this kind of censorship is continuing and the blatant hypocrisy is clear.

In one of Cieslewicz’s recent post titles “It’s the Dems Who Are Extreme?” he wrote the following…

Here’s the comment I submitted where I addressed Cieslewicz’s paragraph…

That was submitted on October 12, 2023 at 10:48am and as of this morning it still has not been posted, comments from others have been posted.

I don’t like Trump one bit but I’m not completely blind to what’s happened since 2016. In my opinion; overwhelming and all consuming anti-Trump bias, a.k.a. Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS), is a very real thing that has been intentionally created by extremist totalitarian minded fools in the political left using their Pravda-USA propaganda media and way too many people have swallowed the nonsense whole. Common sense, critical thinking, logic and the idea of Liberty seem to be completely dead when it comes those in the political left suffering from TDS.

Now comes the hypocrisy straw that destroyed Cieslewicz’s integrity.

In Cieslewicz’s recent post titled “The Quote & Quiz for 10/13/23” he states in no uncertain terms the following…

I tried to post the following comment regarding that paragraph…

I also sent the comment screen shot to Cieslewicz via email in case the comment on his blog gets spammed. As of the posting of this blog, I haven’t heard back from Cieslewicz but I will update this blog post if Cieslewicz replies to my inquiries.

“If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck” and no one, including Cieslewicz, should intentionally censor someone calling it a duck even if he thinks deep down in his bones that it’s a chicken.

  1. Doesn’t surprise me. Cieslewicz may position himself as above limousine liberals and leftist radicals, but he still tends to look at issues through a singular lens. For example, he writes:

“When you survey the challenges facing the world and America, political correctness doesn’t register very high in my book. Vladimir Putin’s aggression, China’s economic and military rise, an aging world population, inflation and potential recession, hard-right quasi-fascism, an ongoing labor shortage, climate change, the threat of nuclear war… I could go on, but you get my point. Woke is irritating and it is somewhat dangerous, but it doesn’t come close to those other threats.”

    DeSantis Is Right About Woke

Agree about threats from Russia & China, nuclear war, economy. He also mentions “hard-right quasi-fascism” yet fails to mention the insanity running rampant within his own party. He doesn’t seem to, or want to, understand why moderates have left the Democratic party.

He also downplays wokeism as a mere annoyance, when in fact it’s what’s responsible for the Marxist indoctrination at campuses, which came on full display this past week with those horrid anti-Israel demonstrations.

He can’t see outside his own bubble, and in my opinion not much better than Humphrey.
