Honest Survey For Democrats: What Ideology Fits You Best?

It’s really important for participants to follow the links to get a more detailed description of some of the terms. The list is in alphabetic order.

Anarchism: a political theory advocating the abolition of hierarchical government and the organization of society on a voluntary, cooperative basis without recourse to force or compulsion.

Anarchist: a person who advocates or promotes anarchism or anarchy.

Anarchy: a state of disorder due to absence or nonrecognition of authority or other controlling systems; the organization of society on the basis of voluntary cooperation, without political institutions or hierarchical government.

Communist: a person who supports or believes in the principles of communism.

Illiberal: opposed to classic liberal principles; advocate for restricting individual rights and civil liberties.

Liberal (Classic): a supporter of Liberalism a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise.

Liberal (Modern): a pure partisan supporter of Democratic Party policies. If you always vote against Republicans and for Democrats then this very likely applies to you, be honest to yourself.

Marxist: a supporter of the political and economic theories of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.

Progressive (Classic): a person advocating for classic progressivism.

Progressive (Modern): an illiberal classic progressive.

Socialist: a person who advocates or practices socialism.

Totalitarian: advocate for totalitarianism; relating to a system of government that is centralized and dictatorial and requires complete subservience to the state.

If you consider yourself to be part of the 21st century Democratic Party, this is the observed list of where political ideologies have morphed within the Democratic Party in the last 40+ years. I suspect that most Democrats, if they are completely honest with themselves, could personally identify with more than one of those categories, some of them will identify with many categories and some will only identify with one. If part of a category fits you then that category fits you, be honest.

A few examples:

  • If you are in favor of government or non-government entities censoring the free speech of others based on misinformation or disinformation then you definitely fall into multiple categories.
  • If you advocate to defund the police then you definitely fall into multiple categories.
  • If you support Anti-Fascists (ANTIFA) or Black Lives Matter (BLM) you definitely fall into multiple categories.

Get the idea. Now look at yourself.
