New Commenting Rule

In recent weeks I’ve seen an increase in traffic from what appears to be internet trolls and spam bots. If you’re a new commenter on my blog and I don’t personally know you, welcome and I’ll be sending an email to the email address you used to post your comment(s).

The new rule is #11 and the text is below, the complete list can be found here.

11. To prevent internet trolls from trying to post comments to my blog using fake email addresses, any new commenter posting comments to my blog must have their email address verified prior to comments being approved. I’ll send a message to the email address you used to post your comment for verification, you must reply to that email or you won’t be allowed to comment; no exceptions. All email addresses are kept confidential. This doesn’t apply to commenters that I already know.

Note about rule #11: If you’re a new commenter here expect an email, if you don’t see it in your inbox you should check your spam folder. Don’t expect instant gratification from me and I won’t expect it from you so I’ll give you up to a week to reply to the verification email.

Whether you agree or disagree with what I write I appreciate your interest in my blog, please take a moment to share it with others.
